–I live with my wonderful boyfriend of over 6 years and our 2 year old chihuahua. Chihuahuas have a bad rep for being annoying, yappy little things. My chihuahua rocks. Thank you very much.
–I love NYC (I don’t live there….but I hope to one day).
–I am just under 5 feet tall…and I don’t particularly like heels.
–I am literally just learning how to bake things from scratch. This blog serves as my journal of the process.
–I still do not own a food processor, among many other kitchen appliances.
–I am currently using my digital camera (Canon PowerShot) for my pictures. One day I’ll get a….DSLR? What ever that is lol…yeah, shows how much I know…
–When I’m not sure what to watch; I turn on Food Network. (I want to cook/bake like Ina Garten and hang out with Rachael Ray).
–I don’t drink soda. Or eat things with Splenda. And really truly won’t eat something that I know has MSG in it.
–I don’t eat meat anymore except for fish. If you had asked me if I’d ever stop eating meat a year ago when I was eating lamb brain ravioli at Mario Batali’s restaurant; well…you can guess what I would have said. It’s something I decided to suddenly do, and still have yet to give it much thought except that: if I don’t think I could kill it myself, I don’t want to be eating it..
—Most likely: Thinking of recipes, baking, eating, looking at food blogs, listening to music, daydreaming, working out, staring at the pile of books I have yet to read, cleaning my apartment in my mind (and then eventually cleaning some of it).
—Music: The Beatles, The Band, The Doors, anything from the 50’s, 60’s and some 70’s, Norah Jones, KT Tunstall, Frank Sinatra, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, among others.
–TV: Galloping Gourmet & The French Chef reruns, Rachael Ray Show, Cupcake Wars, Throwdown with Bobby Flay, Bobby’s Ireland, Barefoot Contessa, Chopped, Netflix streaming (technically that’s tv!..?), Hell’s Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares, American Idol (yup yup), any documentary on NYC or the 50’s-60’s, History Channel, Discovery Channel, and I Love Lucy.
–Desserts of choice: traditional cheesecake (no skimping on the crust), brownies, flourless chocolate cake, cannolis, fruit tart, Russian tea cakes, coffee crumb cake.
–No likey: Anise flavored anything, coffee flavored anything, raw oysters (that’s all I can think of for now)
–The first time I ever heard of creme brulee was in ‘My Best Friend’s Wedding’…,”You’re NEV.ER GON.NA BE JELLO.“
–My 2 favorite restaurants in NYC are The Harrison and The Maze (Gordon Ramsay)
—Where I want to be: In NYC with my own successful bakery, living in a decent apartment with a nice updated kitchen, and making a circle of friends who love learning about food & baking as much as I do.
